World Cinema on Your Doorstep!

Ayr Film Society is South Ayrshire's award-winning community-led cinema.  We bring the best non-mainstream films to the area. Many great films don't make it to the local multiplex which then means a trip to Glasgow to see them. Our season runs from September to March, with screenings on Thursday evenings at Ayr Town Hall. Our venue is the main auditorium with a choice of seating in the stalls or the balcony.

News Updates 

We are delighted to announce that Ayr Film Society received a commendation for Best Film Programme, at Cinema For All, Film Society of the Year Awards 2018. Ron Currie (AFS Secretary & Treasurer) attended the awards ceremony in Sheffield.

Proposed Screenings for Season 2019 / 2020

Following the selection committee meeting in early February, it has been agreed that the following titles be considered for the forthcoming season (subject to availability).

The Wife (USA); A Fantastic Woman (Chile); Nae Paseran (UK/Chile); Les Grands Esperite (France); Peterloo  (UK); Den Skyldige (Denmark); Rafiki (Kenya); Hereditary (USA); Lady Bird (USA); The Breadwinner (Canada); You Were Never Really Here (Scotland); Fokus-Films from Germany; Edie (UK); The Sense of an Ending (UK); Capernaum (Lebanon); The Shoplifters (Japan); Apostasy (UK); Touch of Evil (Vintage); Cold War (Poland); Roma (Mexico); Comme des Garcon (France).

Season 2019 / 2020 will start on Thursday 5th September with the silent movie 'Show People' (with live organ accompaniment) - this screening is run in partnership with Ayr Arts Guild and is not included in membership. Entry for all is £5 at the door.
